Eberspächerplatform can be configured for integrated or distributed battery architectures, making it suitable for different electrified vehicle and energy-storage configurations.
A BMS monitors parameters including cell voltage, temperature and current to help maintain safe and efficient battery operation. GuardIon-IQ also incorporates cell balancing, State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH) algorithms, current sensing, CAN communication and redundant safety protection.
Eberspaecher Vecture developed the platform with a focus on reducing installation space and system weight. The core hardware measures 80 × 55 × 12 mm, facilitating integration where available space is limited.
The modular architecture is designed to allow manufacturers to use a common BMS platform across multiple battery configurations, potentially reducing the need to develop separate systems for individual applications.
According to Eberspaecher Vecture, the platform can therefore simplify integration and support faster adaptation of battery-management systems to different vehicle and equipment architectures.
GuardIon-IQ is available in six variants covering integrated and distributed architectures.
IQ Prime is an integrated BMS with onboard MOSFETs for small-to-medium battery packs, while IQ Pro supports medium-to-large systems using external contactors.
IQ Power targets higher-current applications and incorporates advanced diagnostics, with protection and sensing modules available in 100, 200 and 300 A versions.
For distributed high-voltage architectures, IQ Command operates as the central controller, while IQ Sentinel handles cell-level measurement, balancing and protection.
IQ Apex can monitor up to three high-voltage nodes at voltages of up to 1,500 V and includes ground-fault monitoring.
These configurations make the platform applicable to increasingly complex electrified mobility architectures where battery monitoring, protection and scalable system integration are key design requirements.
Eberspaecher Vecture has developed battery management systems since 2001 and reports having implemented more than 500 BMS designs across standard and customised applications.
